Chart.js - A JavaScript Library For Easy Graphs For Designers & Developers

Chart.js is a JavaScript library which allows you to create graphs for the client-side easily using an object-oriented approach. Chart.js provides 6 ways of representing your data, with each being animated and fully customizable.

Chart.js can display your data in form of line charts, bar charts, radar charts, pie charts, polar area charts, and donut charts. The library uses HTML5 Canvas to display the graphs and has polyfills for IE7/8.

Chart.js is also very lightweight and dependency free, weighing in at only 4.5KB (minified & gizpped).

Multigraph - A JavaScript Library For Interactive Data Graphs For The Web

Multigraph is a program for creating 2-dimensional scientific data graphs in web pages. It can read data in a variety of formats, and allows you to customize the appearance of the graph to your liking.

Multigraph provides interactive “pan” and “zoom” capabilities, giving the viewer the ability to change the horizontal and/or vertical scales in the graph on the fly. Multigraph also has the ability to read data from a web service, which allows it to be used to “surf” through large datasets, downloading only those the parts of the data that are needed for display.

Multigraph is written in pure JavaScript and will work in any reasonably modern web browser, including on mobile devices.

Multigraph was inspired by interactive mapping sites such as Google Maps; just as you can use Google Maps to pan and zoom around a geographic area, in order to see some particular feature or relationship, Multigraph lets you pan or zoom around in “data space” in order to better understand and visualize the data.

xCharts - A D3-Based Library For Building Custom Charts And Graphs

xCharts is a JavaScript library for building beautiful and custom data-driven chart visualizations for the web using D3.js. Using HTML, CSS, and SVG, xCharts are designed to be dynamic, fluid, and open to integrations and customization.

xCharts uses its input data to instruct it on how the dataset should be drawn. By providing the following data, an xChart will be instructed to draw an ordinal bar chart with a linear scale, containing two ordinal ticks on the x-axis for "Pepperoni" and "Cheese". There will also be a secondary dotted-line component overlaid on top of the bars.

dc.js - A Dimensional Charting JavaScript Library

dc.js is a JavaScript charting library with native crossfilter support and allowing highly efficient exploration on large multi-dimensional dataset (inspired by crossfilter's demo).  It leverages d3 engine to render charts in CSS friendly SVG format.

Charts rendered using dc.js are naturally data driven and reactive therefore providing instant feedback on user's interaction.  The main objective of this project is to provide an easy yet powerful JavaScript library which can be utilized to perform data visualization and analysis in browser as well as on mobile device.  It can also be used as a Node.js module.

CHAP Links Library - A JavaScript Visualization Library For Displaying Graphs, Networks, And Timelines

CHAP Links Library is a web based visualization library for displaying graphs, networks, and timelines. The tools are developed as Google Visualization Charts for JavaScript and GWT. CHAP Links Library is developed by Almende as part of CHAP, the Common Hybrid Agent Platform.

The library contains the following components: Graph, Graph3d, Network, Timeline and a TreeGrid.

  • Graph - The Graph is an interactive visualization chart to draw (measurement) data in time. You can freely move and zoom in the graph by dragging and scrolling in the window. The time scale on the axis is adjusted automatically, and supports scales ranging from milliseconds to years. The Graph is specially designed for handling large amounts of data.
  • Graph3D - Graph3d is an interactive visualization chart to draw data in a three dimensional graph. You can freely move and zoom in the graph by dragging and scrolling in the window. Graph3d also supports animation of a graph.
  • Network - Links Network is an interactive chart to visualize networks. It allows creating nodes, links between the nodes, and interactive packages moving between nodes. Interaction can be real time or can be animated from a set of historical data. The visualization supports custom styles, colors, sizes, images, and more.
  • Timeline - The Timeline is an interactive visualization chart to visualize events in time. The events can take place on a single date, or have a start and end date (a range). You can freely move and zoom in the timeline by dragging and scrolling in the Timeline. Events can be created, edited, and deleted in the timeline. The time scale on the axis is adjusted automatically, and supports scales ranging from milliseconds to years.
  • TreeGrid - TreeGrid is a visualization which represents data in a hierarchical grid view. It is designed to handle large amouts of data, and has options for lazy loading. Items in the TreeGrid can contain custom HTML code. Information in one item can be spread over multiple columns, and can have action buttons on the right.

Typeset.css - A No-Nonsense CSS Typography Reset For Styling User-Generated Content

Typeset.css is a no-nonsense CSS typography reset for styling user-generated content like blog posts, comments, and forum content.

Typeset.css is a CSS file (typeset.css) that includes all the styles you need to ensure content on your site is styled. Styles are only applied to areas that have a parent element with the class typeset, so it can be target content-specific markup.

Common user-generated content includes anchors, bold and italic text.  Also common phrase tags are <code>, strong and emphasis (much like bold and italic).

Typeset.css is not a CSS framework for styling the layout and design of your website - just specific blocks of content (e.g., blog posts, comments, forum content) that includes paragraphs, lists, code snippets, and so on.

When to use this

Any time you have stripped a browser’s default styles or haven’t specified styles for content elements, use Typeset.css. It’s great for:

  • Blog posts
  • Articles
  • Comments
  • Helper text in web apps
  • Any other content blocks on a page

Never again add content to your web page just to find that you don’t have a consistent style for it.  Typeset was originally created for user-generated content on UserVoice feedback forums (here’s an example UserVoice forum), and then expanded to work with content generated by UserVoice-powered knowledge base articles (example article). Because users create these articles using a WYSIWYG editor with HTML-editing capabilities, we needed to make sure we had a base set of styles for any content-related markup.

Cubism.js - A D3 Plugin For Visualizing Time Series

Cubism.js is a D3 plugin for visualizing time series. Use Cubism to construct better realtime dashboards, pulling data from Graphite, Cube and other sources.

Cubism fetches time series data incrementally: after the initial display, Cubism reduces server load by polling only the most recent values. Cubism renders incrementally, too, using Canvas to shift charts one pixel to the left. This approach lets Cubism scale easily to hundreds of metrics updating every ten seconds! Despite asynchronous fetching, rendering is synchronized so that charts update simultaneously, further improving performance and readability.

Cubism also scales in terms of perception: small multiples aligned by time facilitate rapid comparison. Cubism’s horizon charts make better use of vertical space than standard area charts, allowing you to see many more metrics at-a-glance and increasing the likelihood of discovery.

Cubism is data-source agnostic. It has built-in support for Graphite and Cube, and can be readily extended to fetch data from other sources. Client-side metric arithmetic allows further flexibility by combining metrics from multiple sources. Cubism’s modular components are designed for extensibility. You can add new chart types and modes of interaction, too. Cubism builds on D3, making it highly customizable via CSS and JavaScript.

Dance.js Is A Simple Data-Driven Visualization Framework

Dance.js is a simple data-driven visualization framework. It's basically a flavor of Backbone.js, but enriched with some of the ideas of the very popular D3.js visualization framework.  A Dance.js dance involves several Performers (aka views or visualizations) who are performing on screen. Users of Backbone.js might already be familiar with the API, as it's pretty much the same as for Backbone.View. Dance.js comes with its own data manipulation framework, Data.js which functions as a replacement for Backbone.Model.
